Frequently Asked Questions

Owner, Marissa, answers all of the questions you’re burning to ask.

Why are you more expensive than my [friend/neighbor/Rover] sitter?

You may receive a better rate with other sitters and along with this you won’t have the skills, trainings, and protections that accompany a professional pet sitter. We charge a premium price for premium service that includes regular updates on your pet, medication management, full service house sitting (plants, mail, pets, and light housekeeping), as well as maintaining an active policy to always be insured and bonded.

What does your insurance cover?

Our policy covers: property damage, pet injury, lost keys, and personal injury. We all know accidents happen even to the most expert sitters, with this policy, you’ll have the protections needed to assure you can have a stress free time away from home.

What does “bonded” mean?

A bonded pet sitter pays an annual premium to protect their clients from theft as a result of the service provided. While I am extremely confident that I would never rob you of your personal possessions, I understand that having a stranger in your home can be a nerve wracking experience and want to protect you as much as possible.

What qualifications do you have?

I have been pet sitting for friends any family for over 10 years and I have been pet sitting professionally through Rover.com since August 2019. I have successfully earned my Bachelor of Science in Zoology, Master of Business Administration, and maintain an active membership with Pet Sitters International, a widely recognized professional standard in pet care, which gives you the confidence that you’ll have the best of both worlds.

Finally, I am on my way to obtaining my designation as a Certified Professional Pet Sitter, through PSI. This designation is obtained by passing a proctored, closed book exam coving topics such as animal safety, business management, and animal behavior analysis.

I’m not sure I feel comfortable with a stranger in my home. Can I get to know you and your husband better?

Yes! Getting to know each other is a key part in a successful pet sitting relationship. We both welcome any and all questions at our complementary meet and greet meeting that accompanies all of our services.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We can appreciate that unexpected events happen that may affect your existing bookings. We provide top tier, individualized care to your pets and from the moment a booking is formally requested, additional bookings are rejected. As a professional courtesy to our sitter(s), we require a minimum of 72 hours advanced notice from the start of the requested booking for cancellations.

Cancellation requests made with at least 72 hours’ notice will be entitled to a 50% refund of the total cost of services. Requests made with less than 72 hours’ notice will be charged the total cost of services with no refunds.

Is there a fee to administer medications?

Not at all! Our services are tailored to the needs of each individual pets. We have experience providing both liquid and tablet oral medications as well as subcutaneous injections.

Can I have text you for updates on my pet?

Absolutely! Calls and text are not only welcomed but encouraged. Isolating away from your pet can create a stressful experience for all involved. We’re more than happy to video chat, call, or text you as often as you’d like.
